I like Thomas with his carpenter’s square.

He wanted everything to “True Up” before he would believe.

That’s a good symbol for him.

Legend has it that Thomas went to India with the Gospel. There are churches there so old that they claim to be from the time of the Apostle Thomas.

Isn’t Thomas’ ministry in India fairly well attested by now? Which makes him the Apostle who ventured furthest into the uttermost parts....

Well;, I used the word “Legend” because Thomas’s journey is not in the Book of Acts. I didn’t mean to cast doubt!

I expect we can look forward to his blow-by-blow description of it once we meet up with him in heaven. Can you imagine the interest he will generate there?!

Rubens, Durer, Tissot, Van Dyck, all excellent. Plus all the stained glass windows. Excellent tribute to the Apostles, Dan!

The name under the stained glass window is in tribute to one of St. Andrew’s parishioners who served and died during World War I. There are many examples of these special tributes in various churches. It is very moving.

They deserve it, Alba. They were the Keystone Kops and the Twelve Stooges initially, but eventually they more than validated Jesus' selections of them. Thrones are designated for them, deservedly.

This particular window at St. Andrew’s is a 20th c. work, so I imagine the family commissioned it as a memorial to their loved one.

It’s quite moving indeed, and serves to recognize those who are gone. Thank you both.

Which, or course, is the purpose of this series of threads remembering the Twelve. It's also the spine of The Chosen.

Leon, there is an interesting effect at work here, and this short Apostles series illustrates it, I think.

The Holy Spirit is working in everyone, and it is evident that He uses this ministry, as you have dubbed it several times, in scores of people on this site. I can only post those portions of scripture which are amply illustrated, and there is no scripture for these tribute threads. Comments are very sparse, but the Spirit can direct eyeballs here or not, as He wishes. But I’ll bet, silence notwithstanding, He thought reminding folks about the Twelve had value.

Dan, I read your comment several times...

We (the viewers) come in and out, during the day. I’m thrilled by those who post, some I’ve not seen before. As you said; many view, but don’t comment. But still, they show up, so they can then be touched. God can use the shortest comment, or even a ‘less than epic’ sketch to begin to shift the rudder on a drifting life.

Yes, this posting topic certainly has value. We know how the Holy Spirit moves us all differently, when we view or experience the very same thing. I could immediately think of a dozen ways that this series could move hearts. But there are more than a dozen. God is so vast, most of Him I cannot fathom, but I guess I don’t need to; mostly I just need faith.

One day Dan, you’ll see all those that the Holy Spirit touched here, and the fruit of your efforts.

I hope you’re willing to keep this going. You have a LOT of patience and energy! This site is the First place I look in the morning, and the last at night.
